Going, Going, Gone

We've been watching the ice on the lake change day by day. Three days ago, it still covered most of the lake.

Each day it gets thinner and further from shore.

Yesterday we it rained all day (doesn't deter the dog from wanting to walk) and the ice is all but gone.

Shot in the Arm

Shot #1 is complete!!! We are struggling to get JP vaccinated before CP's graduation. Things are moving faster, but here in MN there's a strong demand - hardly any anti-vaxers here. Need to ship doses up from the red states that have a surplus.

Patio Cat

V is loving being out on the patio. We think that she has learned that if she doesn't jump down into the yard, she can stay out as long as she wants.

Designer Bedroom

JP hired a designer to help visualize her vision for changes to the house. The designer is none other than Miss JN, whom we have known since birth. She is finishing up her degree in design, so JP put her to work.

The arch is now complete, as are the freshly painted windows. We chopped the headboard down 6" so that it clears the window frame. JP replaced our 15 year old bedspread with a new one, and she got some new pillows, too.

Next project: build in a wall of closet space.

Custom Lumber

One of the joys of a 100 year old house is getting to custom fabricate every piece of wood that goes into a project. We needed to wrap the baseboard around the new arch; the old baseboard stopped short at where the old trim was. The big board is a 1x8 ripped down to 5-3/4, and the upper piece was a 1x3 ripped to 1-7/8 with a 16° bevel and 3/16 radii. Nerve wracking work on our 30 year old $100 Sears table saw, but rewarding to see it in the end.

Patio Season

We picked up some patio heaters that have a directional reflector on them and they are giving us a pre-taste of spring.

The maple over the patio is bare, so we get some nice sunshine in the afternoons.

Harmonized Arches

We found some full-length pieces of drywall in the construction dumpster across the street and go them up and curved. It took a fair amount of mud to smooth it all out, but it came out pretty well.

The new big arch matches the existing smaller one and the room is now in harmony.
...and JP is happy!

Friday Afternoon Dog Walk

The weather is really getting nice! Friday afternoon I had a break between meetings, so I took a quick walk to the lake. There and back plus time for sniffing and dilly dallying: 15 minutes. I need to do this every day! One month to go before the ice is gone.

High Gain Project

I ordered The Valve Wizard's book on guitar & bass preamp design and I'm going to start with his high-gain design. From experience @ work, I've learned thru the years to start simple rather than throwing every feature into the initial design. We can add all that later once this is working.

Phase 1B

Until now, Type 1 diabetes has not been on the list of priority COVID diseases. Type 2 has been on the list since Day 1. This moves TP up one slot to Phase 1B Tier 3. JP is still in Phase 1B Tier 4. Hopefully we can get inoculated before CP's graduation.
