Speaking in Omaha

CP fared very well in his Omaha speech tournament. The boy is Confident.

Climb On!

At work, there's a wall that has had a crack in the drywall since it was put up. This year, we cleaned up the offices and repaired the wall. The repair crew just put spackling over the crack and then did a poor job of applying the touch up paint. The crack came back before the paint was dry. My ex-cubemate, who is also an ex-climber, sits under the crack and made some climbers out of wire. The leader has a gear sling with 'biners, and the belayer below has a tight grip on the rope.

Neighbor's New House

Our neighbors and best friends are leaving us to go live out in the boondocks, three miles from us out in the country. Their new house is coming along quickly. They have a bedroom reserved for us, and I've already claimed my spot in the sun next to the pool. Although we're excited for them, we hate to see them go.

CP's First Tournament

CP did well at his first speech tournament (1st place!). He's loving it!

So far, he has done well at all of his tournaments, including one in Omaha. The speech team travels as much as the sports teams. We dropped him off this morning at another competition here in Loncoln. With his white shirt, blue tie, and little black books in hand, all he was missing was an LDS name badge.

Fall Colors

The little maples on our street are finally getting big enough to put on a spectacular display of fall color. Our neighbors actually had to rake up leaves this year. Ours just blew away into the neighbors' yards.

JP's roses won't stop blooming. She trimmed them back for fall, and they keep coming back.

That Time of Year Again

Ugh. It's that time of year again when we start to see frost on the road and Western Nebraska is getting pounded with the first blizzards. GP has always enjoyed helping with the semi-annual tire swap from summer to winter tires.
